MYAH
Privacy policy
What we collect when you use MYAH, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.
Last updated 26 October 2026
MYAH is run by Myah Sits Ltd, founded by Callum & Niamh. For anything about your data, email info@myahsits.com and we will reply within one month.
Who we are
MYAH (myahsits.com) connects house and pet sitters with home owners. It is run by Myah Sits Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17518835, registered office 109 The Avenue, Leigh, WN7 1HE. We are the data controller for the personal information you give us through the website. We follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
Your account
- Your email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way encrypted hash; we cannot read them.
- Whether you joined as a sitter or a home owner.
Your profile
- What you choose to put on your public page: your name, location, photos, bio, tagline, reviews, links to other platforms, and page colours and headings.
- For sitters: the days you mark as free and the kinds of sit you are happy with.
- For owners: your home, pets (including care routines and special needs), amenities and what you are looking for in a sitter.
- Contact details you add, such as an enquiry email or WhatsApp number.
Private handover details (owners)
Your full address, wifi details, access and parking notes, house notes, emergency contacts and mobile number. These are never shown on your public page. They are shared only with the sitter you confirm, and not until the day before the sit unless you choose to share them sooner.
Sits, applications and messages
- The sits you post, the sits you save or apply for, and the notes you send with applications.
- Messages you send to other members on MYAH, and the notifications we send you.
- Confirmed sits and the handover checklist.
ID verification
Everyone on MYAH is ID checked. You upload a photo of your passport or driving licence and a selfie. They are kept in private storage that only the MYAH founders can view, used only to check that the face and name match your profile, and deleted as soon as the check is approved or rejected. We keep the result (for example "ID verified" and the date) so the badge can show on your profile, and the reason if a check was rejected. You can remove the check and the badge at any time from your Verification page.
Reviews
When a home owner or sitter leaves a review through a review link, we keep their review, first name and the place and date of the sit. The review and first name are shown on the member's public page.
Membership and payments
Once paid memberships begin: which membership you have (Basic or Premium, monthly or yearly), its status and renewal date, and the reference numbers our payment provider gives us. Your card details, billing name and address are collected and held by Stripe, not by us. While MYAH is free we keep only which page design you have chosen.
The early-access list
If you register your interest before launch, we keep your email address, whether you are a sitter, a home owner or both, and where you signed up. We use it to send you a welcome email and to email you when MYAH opens. To come off the list, reply to any of our emails or email info@myahsits.com.
Enquiries
If you send an enquiry through someone's page, we pass your name, email, dates and message to that member by email so they can reply to you.
Why we use it
- To run the service you signed up for (contract): your account, your public page, posting and applying for sits, messaging, confirmations and sit packs.
- To keep MYAH safe (legitimate interests): preventing misuse, investigating reports and keeping the site secure.
- To tell you about your account (contract and legitimate interests): for example notifications about applications, messages and your ID check.
- To check members' identity (legitimate interests in keeping homes, pets and members safe): the ID verification described above.
- To take payment for memberships (contract), once they begin, and to keep the financial records the law requires (legal obligation).
- To email you about the launch if you joined the early-access list (consent; you can withdraw it at any time).
- Where the law requires it (legal obligation).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who can see what
- Anyone can see your public page and any sits you post.
- The members you deal with can see your applications, messages and, once a sit is confirmed, the sit pack, with the private details handled as described above.
- The services we use to run MYAH, only to provide their service to us: Supabase (database and photo storage), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (sending emails) and Stripe (taking membership payments, once they begin). Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on safeguards approved under UK law.
Cookies
We use one cookie, which keeps you logged in. It is essential for the site to work, so we do not ask for consent for it. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. Payment and invoice records are kept for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax law requires. We keep the early-access list until MYAH launches and we have sent the launch email, or until you ask us to remove you.
If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, sits, applications and messages, except where we need to keep something for a legal reason or to resolve a dispute, and then only for as long as needed.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information;
- correct anything that is wrong (you can also edit most of it yourself from your profile);
- delete your account and information;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- send your information to you or another service in a common format.
Email info@myahsits.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
MYAH is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you by email or on the site if the change is significant.
